The cargo turnover of the ports of Ukraine in January-February 2021 decreased by 24.1% - to 20.6 million tons


For two months of 2021, port operators in the seaports of Ukraine handled 20,583.04 thousand tons of cargo, which is 6,538.95 thousand tons or 24.1% less than in the same period last year. This was reported by the press service of the Administration of the Seaports of Ukraine.

Transshipment of export cargo decreased to 16,147.65 thousand tons (-23.1%), imported to 3072.40 thousand tons (-27.7%), transit to 1,215.26 thousand tons (-28, 1 %), cabotage up to 147.73 thousand tons (-18.4%).

The negative dynamics was caused by a decrease in the export of grain cargo to 5,613.56 thousand tons (-38.1%), a decrease in imports of iron ore to 995.70 thousand tons (-19.4%) and coal to 394.25 (-72 , 2%), a decrease in container handling to 162.40 thousand TEU (-6.6%).
However, there is an increase in oil transshipment in the amount of 350.33 thousand tons (an increase of 4.1 times).

The Yuzhny seaport handled 7.7 million tons of cargo in January-February 2021 (-18.4% compared to the same period in 2020). The seaport of Nikolaev handled 3.9 million tons (-25%), Odessa - 3.26 million tons (-23.4%), Chornomorsk - 3.13 million tons (-31.2%), Mariupol - 1 million tons (-1.8%).
